Ready-to-wear designers, with a strong creative identity, can apply until December 19 for the next United Fashion event that arrives in the Portuguese capital in March 2020. Full details of the call can be consulted HERE.
After several international actions, Lisbon hosts the European fashion platform that began as an idea five years ago. In 2014, during the European Fashion Summit hosted by MAD - Home of Creators, federations, associations, platforms and fashion incubators from across Europe sat down to talk about the sector. The result was the raising awareness of the shared challenges and the certainty that only unity can point solutions to overcome them.
Three years later, on September 28, 2017, United Fashion started to work together in the promotion of independent fashion designers and, since then, several events took place in Berlin, Riga, Skopje and Lille.
Antwerp is currently hosting the FashionTech Works, which gathers 25 fashion tech brands and entrepreneurs, including the Portuguese designers Alfredo Orobio (Awaytomars) and Olga Noronha.
United Fashion is thus a cluster of seven organizations active in the European fashion sector:MAD - Home of Creators and Flanders DC, both from Belgium; Baltic Fashion Federation of Latvia; Maison de Mode, France; Fashion Weekend Skopje, Northern Macedonia, Fashion Council Germany and, of course, Associação ModaLisboa, which has been part of the platform since its inception and has already provided several of its designers with the opportunity to participate in the international training and networking activities of the project.
From March 4 to 7, 2020, with a program designed to bring young designers closer to textile professionals, buyers, national and international press, and to create networks that promote the growth of their brands and bring them closer to the Portuguese market, United Fashion will be a hub of workshops, masterclasses, showroom, fashion happenings and direct selling to the public. In this way, it will bring to Lisbon the FW2021 presentations of 15 fashion designers, in a program integrated with Lisboa Fashion Week, and a multidisciplinary event that pays reverence to independent fashion, innovative projects and the immaterial weight of creativity.
