TOMORROW, THE DESIGN
ModaLisboa opens applications for the Sangue Novo competition, with new awards and textile partnerships for Young Fashion Designers.
The latest edition of the Young Designers Competition was also a fertile ground for exploring the way of communicating Fashion, with two entirely digital presentations that opened doors to innovation, dialogue with multimedia cultural spheres and the intersection of aesthetic languages. And it was, in addition to all this, a reinforcement of the importance of creative young people for this industry, who challenge the instituted ways of thinking and creating Fashion.
It is to encourage these visions without addictions that we open a new season of the Sangue Novo competition. Aimed to graduates of higher education and professional courses in Fashion Design, and young fashion designers recently graduated, the application phase ends on 20th ofJuly, 2021.
The jury, composed by Miguel Flor (president), Nelly Gonçalves (stylist) and Constança Entrudo (Fashion Designer) will select 10 projects to present in October 2021. After the presentation, the jury will announce the fivefinalists who will compete in the second and the last phase of the contest, in March 2022 - each of these young Designers will receive a monetary prize of 1000 euros for the development of the new collection.
But there are news. To support the participating Designers and to strengthen the relationship between creatives and the textile industry, Associação ModaLisboa established partnerships with Tintex Textiles, Calvelex / Fabrics4Fashion and Riopele, which provide selected Designers with materials for the production of their collections. And there is also another incentive: the winners of the ModaLisboa x Polimoda and ModaLisboa x Tintex Textiles Awards (announced in March 2022) will see their collections at the Showpress showroom - partner agency that supports emerging Fashion Designers - and have access to communication and PR tools.
ModaLisboa Award in partnership with Polimoda
The winner of this award will have the opportunity to attend the PolimodaMaster in Fashion Design (beginning in October 2022), or the Polimoda Master in Collection Design (beginning in January 2023), worth 28.000 euro, and will receive a scholarship of 3.500 euros. After completing the Polimoda Master, the designer should present the collection developed during the course at the Workstation platform, in ModaLisboa.
ModaLisboa Award in partnership with Tintex Textiles
The winner of this award can do a 3-week artistic residence at Tintex Textiles (May or June 2022), where will have the opportunity to develop a capsule collection with Tintex materials, produce prototypes, and get to know all the dynamics of knitting, spinning, confectioning, dyeing and finishing. The collection will be presented in the international trade fairs that Tintex integrates and in the company's showroom. Tintex also offers to the winner food, accommodation, travel and a scholarship of 500 euros. The winner will also receive a monetary prize of 1.500 euros awarded by ModaLisboa for the development of a new collection, to be presented at the Workstation platform, in October 2022.
ModaLisboa Award in partnership with Showpress
