In a digital-first event, London Fashion Week takes place between the 12th and the 14th of June, on the fashion week’s official platform. BÉHEN is one of the nine young Designers selected in the open call launched by LFW.
Joana Duarte — BÉHEN’s founder and creative director — explains that “this is an important opportunity for the brand, because London has a market and an audience focused on emerging Designers”. BÉHEN, which had its first presentation at ModaLisboa AWAKE, in March 2020, thus consolidates its growing internationalization strategy by participating in the London Fashion Week DiscoveryLAB platform.
With a video recorded in Peniche by a team of creative young talents, BÉHEN wants to reinforce its mission: more than the upcycling of antique textiles, it is to revive, cultivate and boost traditional Portuguese know-how and techniques, such as embroidery and crochet, working with various communities of women artisans across the country, and documenting these tales in stories that enrich and give world to all its delicate pieces. Now, this passage of love and knowledge from generation to generation that we find in each of its collections, will be exposed to a global audience as one of the voices of the future.
