MODALISBOA and APPICAPS presented the Portuguese Shoes exhibition, dedicated to Portuguese shoes and accessories. For 2019, Portuguese footwear elevates each and every shoe as an art object and chooses dance as a metaphor for elegance and strength.
In this exhibition, APPICAPS and ModaLisboa combined companies with many decades of experience in the market - masters in handmade footwear manufacture of high increased value – with a new generation of companies that stand out for their creativity and focus in new materials. This fashion week edition was characterized by introspection and reflection and the national footwear association connected with the theme INSIGHT and offered a reflection on the most recent growth of Portuguese footwear.
“A young, modern and sexy industry, forward-looking, that matches tradition to cutting-edge technology, know-how to an avant-garde design: the Portuguese footwear industry is in constant development.” Portuguese shoes reach, nowadays, 152 countries within the five continents.

MODAPORTUGAL presented itself to the public of MODALISBOA with an installation combining fashion, technology, sustainability, future, lifestyle, art and design through examples of industrial production and national creativity, exploring and enhancing the relationship between the textile and clothing industry, brands and designers.
The “Showcase MODAPORTUGAL” aimed to provide a visual and tactile experience on the fashion proposals signed by some young, yet promising, Portuguese brands as well as new designers participating at MODALISBOA.
It also served as a launch and distribution venue for issue number 22 of Prinçipal MODAPORTUGAL’s magazine that has been revealing, internationally, the Portuguese fashion industry by creating new bridges and encouraging the expansion of this network of professionals.
