Archie Dickens is a Co-Ed Knitwear brand delivering luxury one-off pieces that are environmentally conscious and handmade in the workshop in Anjos70, Lisboa. The brand was started in June 2018, after the designer graduated from his Masters in Fashion at The Royal College of Art. His first collection was shown at the Sangue Novo - Young Designers Competition show during ModaLisboa, in October 2018. Since then, Archie Dickens has shown in ModaLisboa all following seasons - firstly the second stage of Sangue Novo, in March 2019, and then in October 2019 in the Workstation platform.
“Fluxo 19” is the continuation of a wardrobe which began life in my previous collection. It should not be seen as a new season, but a new selection of pieces to combine with old ones. It draws upon the same theme of ‘freedom of movement’ as my last collection also did.
For shape I examined fluid lines, present in the sculpture of ancient greece and in naturally occuring forms such as coral. This has allowed me to further examine some of the important techniques developed in the previous collection “Formas de Vida 18”.
Blue and grey have emerged as dominant colours for me this year as I have been living in close proximity to the ultimate source of fluid movement - water. I have observed the ever changing relationship between sea and sky.
