A monumental and ancient footwear industry carries its traditions. But it also has on its shoulders the weight of being a pioneer, of innovating, of improving. Responsibility shares its home with influence, the two are directly proportional. This has to be the only philosophy of those who create and materialize on a planet that increasingly needs respect. ModaLisboa and APICCAPS presented an exhibition that wants to think about how leather, so traditionally handcrafted in Portugal, is walking towards sustainability. When treated well, leather shoes last a lifetime — just like the planet we inhabit. Technology has advanced so that working the leather is less polluting for the environment than the alternatives, and the national brands represented at the exhibition make the effort every day to discover new chemical-free, toxicity-free treatments to protect the product while protecting the world. This is how we move forward: one step at a time.

Showcase MODAPORTUGAL by CENIT/ANIVEC brought together fashion, lifestyle and culture. The installation presented at ModaLisboa honored the creative and craftsmanship thinking that lives in Portugal’s DNA, and opened a door to dialogue, networking and fusion of experiences and industry and fashion languages. The installation was a window to a country that thrives on ancient techniques allied with the latest technological innovations and social and environmental concerns. The space also hosted issue number 23 of Prinçipal MODAPORTUGAL magazine which has been revealing, internationally, the Portuguese fashion industry and its main agents, through a creative and editorial look, building new bridges and encouraging the expansion of the industry professionals’ network.

PROMOTED BY CLUSTER MINERAL RESOURCES
A space designed to live the Portuguese Marble Stone in an unexpected way. Fashion, new technologies and Portuguese Marble converged to tell the story of the return of the Stoners, humanized fragments of our metamorphic resource, back to the Alentejo. This return to the origins, in a contemporary context, brought a new way of looking at something that is as traditional as it is timeless. It was also a space in which the viewer could be part of the creation of a collection. That's why Colisão Studios, a multidisciplinary fashion house, joined Assimagra, the association that represents Portugal's mineral resources. For a reconnection between us who tread the earth, and what began to form 700 million years ago. Nature paintings, parts of infinity, all that is timeless and at the same time, it’s today.
Dino Alves, ambassador of the exhibition "Keith Haring. Between art, activism and fashion", created an original dress inspired by the works and life of graphic artist, Keith Haring, which was presented exclusively at ModaLisboa Collective.
The dress was auctioned by Cabral Moncada, at the Modern and Contemporary Art auction, held on October 28, 2019, and all proceeds reverted to Ser + (Portuguese Association for AIDS Prevention and Challenge).
From October 11 to 13th, 2019, some of the most importante pieces of Olga Noronha’s ODE (2016) series were exposed in Colectivo 284, at Rua das Amoreiras. Presented as sculptural works that reconfigure and re-imagine the human body, the pieces reached us as autonomous and concrete objects/sculptures beyond the (implicit) presence of the body.
