Melissa Deffense and Paris Malungu, the creative duo behind Snobe, met each other in a private event in Brussels and they fell in love with each other’s attitude, style and personality. Bringing together their skills — she has a degree in Communication and works in a press and public relations agency, he’s self educated, and works as window dresser for Zara and Forever21 — they created a very small line of strong and bold perfectos. The first collection was presented during the trendy up-cycling competition Customisez-moi, organised in Brussels by Bernard Gavilan. Each jacket is a unique piece, and Paris and Melissa now present a new collection each season.
Snobe's DNA moves into the continuity of history told over collections, inspired by the urban aesthetics of Paris’ youth in the northern districts of Brussels. With his jean-effect leather dresses, his jackets and jogging pants in supple leather skin and the collections shot especially in the Metro, in Molenbeek, Paris Malungu reveals a perfect performance of his childhood, with his mother and her children between the black ponds and the West Emblem station. For some, a simple walk. For the designer, an initiative journey. Even the colors in the collections put their energy — and their mixture — in the orange of the walls of certain Metro stations. Snobe wants to offer a quality product without becoming an elitist brand.
In BRUSSELS WEST, the brand’s identity is reflected in the mix of prints mixed with the refinement and fluidity. Snobe’s collections are always very colorful, with special attention given to textures and materials. Contrasts and confrontation are their first motor. Snobe is constantly looking for the perfect balance between taste, style and respect for know-how. They mix pop culture and Haute Couture, with a permanent search for prints and modern street culture in their lines. Snobe lives in Brussels. It feels the atmosphere of the street and the mix of communities.
