Graduated in Fashion Design in Brazil, Flávia Brito worked as a stylist assistant with the designers Guto Carvalho Neto and Helena Pontes. She has been studying technical and concept jewelry and participated in exhibitions in Brazil and Pantalla Abierta/Chile.
She chose fashion as a career because she “found magnificent the way people are able to express themselves through putting "stuff" on their bodies. It is a kind of social language and she thinks it is also a mechanism of great historical value”.
Her personal creations are a hybrid of the fields of fashion, art, and jewelry, focusing on the body and its relations with society. Her current endeavors consist of developing conceptual works around clothing and objects.
In MEMORIES OF SPACE, dressing memory is spiritual and material. Memory inhabits the space between body and world, it is built and deconstructed infinitely in the search for a new meaning. This collection, which wanders in these abstract spaces, materializes, in antithesis, in a concrete awareness.
