Artur Dias began his studies at the Soares dos Reis Artistic School, and graduated in Fashion Design at Modatex, Porto. Linked to the performative area from a young age, Artur developed an interest and esteem about everything that is performative and artistic in fashion, exploring its expressiveness and scenographic ambiance. After the presentation of three collections at Sangue Novo, ModaLisboa’s Young Designers Competition, Opiar currently integrates Workstation platform of the same Fashion Week, with his brand OPIAR.
OPIAR addresses clothing based on the philosophies of one-man labor and sustainable slow fashion. All the developed products are made with deadstock, scraps or recycled and upcycled materials. The process is entirely made by the designer, from the design, pattern cutting and the making of the piece. This whole process, in addition to a bigger proximity and work ethic, allows it to be unique and exclusive.
"I dreamed I was made of porcelain. A naked, delicate body of moonlight. Wandering the flooded and solitary city by canoe. The moon was the only light source or company. The water was thin, cold, but ethereal, painting the edges of what through there passed, subtly. It was when I noticed the water was turning red, that I one voice remembered me: “If one day you see the waters turning red, worry not, because those are the tears I once cried from love." It was in that same water that I, eventually, dove."
