João Januário was born in 1995, in Santarém. After graduating from Escola de Moda de Lisboa in Technical Fashion Design, he establishes his first contacts in the industry, under Reality Studio and Litoral ateliers.
2016 and 2017 mark the international experience at Études (Paris) and CMMN SWDN (London). Back in Portugal, he joined Alexandra Moura's studio, and later in 2018, Marques'Almeida as a Garment Technologist.
Today he works as a Product Developer. In parallel, the Fora de Jogo project is born, as a creative getaway from everyday life, and a return to the elementary study of Fashion Design.
A STUDY OF LOST OBJECTS
Fora de Jogo is a collaborative project that emerges from a need to return to the elementary study of Fashion Design and the refuse of a fast-paced, massive production environment.
"A Study of Lost Objects" approaches lost preloved contemporary objects, discovered between Porto and Lisbon, from 2017 onwards. Objects are translated into textiles; textures, shapes and silhouettes are fused together and manipulated using handmade techniques, creating an abstract visual interpretation of each object.
